Building a spreadsheet

Tables built from your data, with formulas you understand.

Learnya builds spreadsheets from your data: an accounting export, a list of invoices, a set of survey responses. The suite’s spreadsheets are Excel-compatible. So you can start from an existing file and hand back a file your colleagues will open without difficulty.

Always ask for calculations to be done by formulas in the spreadsheet, not copied in as values. A formula can be read and corrected, and it updates when the data changes. A copied value does not say where it comes from.

  1. Click a calculated cell and read its formula.
  2. Ask Learnya to explain in one sentence a formula you do not understand.
  3. Change a test value and check that the totals follow.
  4. Export to Excel or CSV depending on the recipient’s tool.
