Lesson 3 of 6 · 9 min
Writing a document
From first draft to final document: iterate, format, keep the versions and export.
A first draft is only a start. The work then happens through short, targeted requests on the document open in Documents: shortening a part, making a sentence more direct, adding an example. Each request touches one specific thing, which keeps the whole under control.
- “Cut part 2 by half, without losing the figures.”
- “Make the introduction more direct, one idea per sentence.”
- “Add a concrete example after the third paragraph.”
- “Check that every abbreviation is explained the first time it appears.”
The revision history keeps every version of the document. Compare with the previous one before accepting a major change, and go back if the new version loses something. To send it, export to Word if the recipient needs to edit the text, to PDF if they only need to read or archive it.
