Lesson 8 of 9 · 9 min

Dictate, transcribe and listen

Talk to Learnya, transcribe a meeting and have a text read aloud.

ObjectiveBy the end of this lesson, you will be able to dictate a request, turn a meeting recording into minutes and have a text read aloud.

Voice is often faster than the keyboard. Learnya offers dictation wherever you write, transcription of meetings and audio files, and reading aloud. Audio processing is computed in Geneva, in six languages: French, German, Italian, English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Dictating a request

  1. Place the cursor in the request field.
  2. Click the microphone and allow access if the browser asks you to.
  3. Speak normally, in full sentences.
  4. Click the microphone again to stop, read the text over, then send.

Transcribing a meeting or an audio file

Drop a meeting recording into a conversation and ask for what you need: a full transcript, minutes or the list of decisions. If you specify it, Learnya distinguishes what was decided from what was only discussed.

Try it in LearnyaTranscribe the attached recording of Monday’s meeting, then write one-page minutes: decisions taken, actions with owner and deadline, questions left open. Try in Learnya

For a meeting held in French or German, state the language you want the minutes in. Learnya transcribes in the spoken language and can write the summary in English. Proper names and internal acronyms deserve a quick review.

Listening rather than reading

The “Read aloud” button has an answer or a text read out. Speech synthesis is also used to narrate a Flow lesson or a Deck presentation. This is useful for people who prefer listening, who are on the move or who review while walking.

  • Dictation: to write a request, a note or a comment quickly.
  • Transcription: to keep a record of a meeting or an interview.
  • Speech synthesis: to narrate training content or listen to an answer.
